Going for Growth
Our support programme for growth concentrates on the three key areas of finance, markets and HR.
We need a strategy to manage the growth and we advise people to look into the three key areas before creating it and taking it to the board.
Many people tell us they us they understand their markets and we often find that what they mean is that they understand their customers – it’s not the same. If you have large proportions of income from the public sector and you are delivering services to the public on their behalf, you probably know really well what people expect from you regarding those services. But as we know that many services are being cut now is an interesting time to be scoping the market in terms of its value and the potential for you to provide services that are paid for in other ways. You may find a PEST analysis together with a SWOT very useful.
Understanding the market in enterprise terms is knowing roughly the value, how much share you might win, what the costs of servicing that share will be and the estimated life expectancy before we can expect to see new developments or change that affects its value to us.
We may need to TEST our ideas and the more you can do of this the better your chances of success.
If you are looking at managing the risk to your organisation by being less dependent on a particular income stream you may find a RISK analysis useful that your staff, board and key stakeholders can contribute their ideas to.
Finance is a key area and our Resorce List may help you get in touch with people interested in supporting your plans. You will need a great business case and sound financial proposals.
