Do you want to have a voice and influence over decisions about local services?

Bradford Assembly is one way you can do this – local people, community groups and voluntary organisations can have their say where it matters by getting involved in forum meetings and events.

Monday, 14th February
Bradford and District Regeneration & Prosperity Forum - Scenario planning
An interactive session to explore new ways of working in changing times. Come along to share ideas and develop possible solutions to a range of issues: collaboration / sharing resources / joint marketing /locality planning / Localism Bill / volunteering / downsizing / new income opportunities

Tuesday 15 February
Health and Wellbeing VCS Forum – Speed dating!
Have a go at speed dating to identify new partners! In the current economic climate, Third Sector organisations need to work together and compete against larger national organisations to deliver health and wellbeing services. Come along to this session and meet new partners with shared objectives and a like-minded approach.

Safer Communities VCS Forum - Making Communities Safer Together
An open and honest discussion on how to address difficult and sensitive issues, particularly in the current climate. The outcome will shape future priorities for the forum and will be used to inform and influence key decision makers.

Bradford Environment Forum (BEF) - Active Environmentalists
Short films, activities, discussion and inspiration for individuals and community groups to find out how they can make a positive contribution to the local environment. BEF is keen to broaden its membership. This is an opportunity for people to come along and meet members of local environmental groups and see how BEF membership could benefit you or your group.

Bfd Specialist Sexual Violence & Abuse Advisory Group (BSSVAAG)
Heard about the Matrix?

Find out about the work of the group and how the new Matrix website will improve access to resources and support for people affected by sexual violence. Plus a review of an exciting one day conference looking at the latest thinking on working with adult male sexual violence/abuse victims/survivors.

Wednesday 16 February
Young Lives Bradford
Making a business case for voluntary sector service delivery. Sharing the recent work by Young Lives Bradford in setting out the collective value of VCS services for children and young people and identifying business opportunities within a ‘Big Society’ environment.

Survive and Thrive II
Networking for neighbourhoods. A follow on from the September event. Grassroots groups will explore ways of developing a network and working together to help each other survive in the current climate.

DIVA Workshop
How can DIVA help you? A training workshop on making the most of DIVA to help support your community needs. Learn how to make better use our online VCS directory, and find out about upcoming changes to DIVA.

Where and when: 2:30pm - 4:30pm

Registration/drinks from 2.00pm. Session start: 2:30pm at the Learning Zone | Bradford Central Library

Social Media Surgery
Learn to use New Media to help your group communicate with members or organise a campaign. Attendees from the New Media event during the 2010 Assembly Week are encouraged to attend as a follow up.

Thursday 17 February
Assembly Conference – Active Citizens and the Big Society
The day will include presentations about the Big Society and Active Citizenship as well as an open panel discussion with representatives from the five VCS forums. There will also be an opportunity for people to discuss the impact of the current cuts facing the district through workshops on mergers and partnerships, campaigning and lobbying, commissioning, downsizing and volunteers.
