Co-operatives Fortnight

Thursday, June 24th, 2010 | Posted in : |

The UK’s first ever Co-operatives Fortnight takes place from the 21st June to raise the profile of co-operatives.
Organised by Co-operatives UK, the campaign hopes to encourage consumers to embrace the co-operative model and “buy co-operatively, bank co-operatively, invest co-operatively and work co-operatively”.

During the two week campaign over 100 events will be taking place across the country. Co-operatives UK will also be releasing a series of reports on co-operation and the role it plays in a range of areas including neighbourliness, food and football.

Ed Mayo, general secretary of Co-operatives UK, says: “Co-operatives Fortnight is going to do for co-operation what Fairtrade Fortnight has done for third world coffee, bananas and chocolate.”
