REACH Funding for Black Role Models
Thursday, December 17th, 2009 | Posted in : |
The Black Training and Enterprise Group (BTEG) is supporting local voluntary and community organisations to deliver REACH events/activities for black boys or black young men across England. Organisations can apply for between £100 to £1,000 to provide structured, progressive activities for black boys and/or young men aged 8-25. These activities should support the REACH goals of:
improving the visibility of black male role models
creating better links between schools and families
improving reporting of race equality in schools
looking at how government can support voluntary and community organisations to share expertise.
To qualify for support, organisations must allow the attendance and involvement of a REACH regional role model at their events. At least 50 black boys and/or young men should be there. This can be a smaller number if more than one activity is planned. Events must be delivered before 31 March 2010.Children and young people should be central to the decision making on projects. A total of £25,000 is available for 2009/2010. For more information visit http://www.bteg.co.uk/we_want_to_fund_you.html.
