Greening the Gap- Kirklees Council

Friday, February 12th, 2010 | Posted in : Environment and Recycling, Community Services, |

Kirklees Council intends to procure a series of packages of Solar PV systems with complete installation services in the Hillhouse area of Huddersfield, as part of a 'Low Carbon Communities Challenge' partnership project called 'Greening the Gap'.

The area is one of significant deprivation: within the worst of UK Super Output Areas (SOA's). Amongst its properties, there are an unusually high proportion of privately-owned Hard to Treat homes and the area also suffers from issues of overcrowding.

The area has a strong sense of place and community, with thriving community networks, faith groups and busy community centres. It has a very diverse mix of residents, with over 65% from minority ethnic groups. Parties expressing an interest in this procurement will be expected to; have a proven track record of successfully delivering similar projects within diverse communities. The installations will be made at domestic properties and community centres to take advantage of the new Feed In Tariff.
