Pathways to Employment Scheme in Scarborough
The Council wishes to award a contract for a Pathways to Employment Scheme in Scarborough for people with learning disabilities.
People in Scarborough with learning disabilities have told the Council that they are very keen to be working in paid employment. These views are reflected in the national strategies set out in Valuing People Now and Valuing Employment Now, which state that people who have a learning disability should be in paid employment by 2025.
As a result of this feedback, the Council are keen to develop an approach to help gain jobs for people with learning disabilities in the Scarborough area. The new Pathways to Employment Scheme will support people to gain skills, on the job work experience and work placements so they can move on to paid employment. The scheme will offer new opportunities for some people who currently use traditional day services to get the skills, confidence and experience that they need to get jobs and become more independent.
Contract start date Mon 12 April 2010
Deadline Fri 08 January 2010 at 12:00
