South Leeds Youth Hub: Music & Film Zone
Leeds City Council’s Integrated Youth Support Service as lead agency along with a number of partners from a variety of sectors is currently developing an exciting new-build youth centre for south Leeds. This centre, the Youth Hub, will be one of 8 hub centres across the city but, strikingly, the first funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families as part of the national myplace programme.
The building will be a 2 storey building of 9 interior zones and approximately 1050 m2, complemented by a large amount of external landscape incorporating car parking, a multi-use games area and grassed performance space with allotments. The internal zones comprise: a hair & beauty salon, an art studio, a music performing & recording studio, a performance zone with cinema screen and a dance floor, a chill-out zone with kitchen/café, small rooms for health clinics and education & careers advice & guidance, a mechanics workshop for go-kart, motorcycle, push bike & skateboard repair & maintenance, a teaching zone, and adult office space.
The building will open early November 2010.
